Koh Kood Information
Boats leave from the Laem Sok Pier, which is 4.5 to 5 hours journey time from Bangkok and about 30km from Trat, the nearest provincial town. To reach the pier directly, you can use private transfers which can be taken from your hotel or Suvarnabhumi Airport, but these will require early starts to make the boat connections. There are private cars and minibusses which can also meet the morning and lunchtime flights from Trat Airport.
All boats leave from Laem Sok Pier, about 30km out from Trat, an hour from Trat Airport and 45 minutes from the Koh Chang Piers and Laem Ngop Pier (Koh Mak). The express boats have a fare of around 350 baht per person and the journey time is approximately 90 minutes. There is also a high-speed catamaran which has a fare of 500 baht per person and the journey time is 75-90 minutes. Companies provide a free taxi shuttle service from Trat. On arrival in Koh Kood, each boat company once again supplies free transport to and from your resort.

How to get to Koh Kood
Koh Kood is connected to the mainland and to neighbouring islands through 25 routes bookable routes on this site. Journeys are sold as single tickets or as combined tickets that link a road leg with a sea crossing, so you can travel from a city centre or an airport straight through to the island on one booking.

Departure and arrival points
Trat is the mainland gateway for the island and the usual transfer point for travellers coming from elsewhere in Thailand. Crossings from the Trat area run to the island's piers, where resort transfers and local taxis meet arriving passengers.
Koh Mak lies between Trat and Koh Kood and is served on the same corridor, which makes island hopping straightforward. Bangkok, Pattaya and Suvarnabhumi Airport are all connected as through journeys, combining a land leg to the coast with the sea crossing.

Practical travel information
Book ahead in the high season. The island is quiet, but the boats are not unlimited, and combined tickets from Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi Airport sell out first on weekends and public holidays.
Give yourself a buffer if you are connecting from a flight. Sea crossings depend on conditions, and a missed connection on the coast can mean waiting for the next departure rather than the next hour.
Check which pier your ticket uses. The island has more than one landing point, and your resort transfer will be arranged around the pier named on your booking, not around the island in general.
Travel light where you can. Transfers on the island are mostly by pickup truck or scooter, and roads are narrow.
Confirm the baggage allowance and any conditions on changes or refunds with Boonsiri High Speed Ferries and Seudamgo at the time of booking, as these differ between companies.
Getting around once you arrive
Most resorts include or arrange a transfer from the pier, and the ride is short. Scooter rental is widely available for exploring independently, and taxis operate as shared pickups between the main beaches.
What to see and do
The beaches are the main draw, and the west coast holds the best known stretches of white sand and clear shallow water. Snorkelling and diving trips run to the reefs around the nearby islands.
Inland, the island is thick with jungle. Waterfalls, mangrove boardwalks and short forest walks fill an afternoon away from the sand, and kayaking through the mangroves is one of the easier ways to see the interior.
Fishing villages built on stilts sit along the coast and are worth a visit for lunch. Evenings are low key here, with beach bars and resort restaurants rather than nightlife.

What are the tourist seasons ?
Phuket Ferry :
Phuket really just has two seasons, which are known as "high season" and "low season" (or "green season"). During the low season months (May- September), boat numbers are reduced. During the high season (October - April), boats to the surrounding islands are increased so you will have some more options.
Ferry Samui :
There are three distinct weather seasons on the tropical island of Koh Samui: the dry season (December until February), the hot season (March until August) and the rainy season (September until November).
Bali Ferry :
Bali actually has a variety of tourist periods, notably around the Balinese New Year, 15 December - 15 January, and 1 June - 30 September. During these high traffic periods, boats to the surrounding islands are increased so you will have some more options. The quieter periods are between 16 January - 30 April and 1 October - 14 December historically.
Will bad weather affect my travels?
Ferries are large and can usually operate in the rain, except in extremely bad weather. During storms or strong winds, the journey may take a little longer than usual.
Speedboats are more likely to be canceled than ferries. If a trip is canceled due to bad weather, you can choose to receive a refund or reschedule. Please note that refunds for bad weather are only issued if the ferry operator cancels the trip.
On rough days, we recommend bringing motion sickness medication and taking it about 20 minutes before boarding if you are prone to seasickness. Boat staff may also provide Dramamine upon request, but you will need to remain indoors during rough conditions. On sunny and calm days, the sun deck is open for passengers to enjoy the weather.
What's the boarding process on the day of my trip?
At the pier named on your ticket, look for the staff of the ferry operator listed on your ticket as well. Please present your e-ticket (QR code) from your phone or other device—they’ll provide you with a sticker and/or boarding pass and direct you to your boat. Most piers have staff available to help load your luggage. In Koh Samui, staff are usually stationed at booths near the boarding area; at other locations, they’re typically near the boats, wearing their company uniforms.
When will I receive my ticket confirmation?
After completing your online booking, your reservation will remain in “Pending” status until it is processed. Once confirmed, we will send your e-ticket via email. The process is usually very quick.
On the day of travel, please present your e-ticket to the ferry staff at the relevant booking counter. If you do not receive your confirmation within 24 hours, contact us immediately.
What are the baggage allowances?
Your ferry e-ticket includes ferry transport, baggage fees, and handling. The free baggage allowance per person is 20–25 kg, depending on the operator. If your baggage exceeds this limit, you can pay the extra fee directly to the ferry operator in cash.
