The Hot Springs Waterfall, Klong Thom
The hot springs waterfall at Klong Thom, in eastern Krabi province, is unusual in that the thermal water does not collect in a pool but runs downhill over a bed of smooth limestone. Centuries of mineral deposition have worn the rock into a sequence of shallow basins, each holding water at around forty degrees, stepping down the slope.
At the bottom the hot stream meets a cool forest creek, and the standard way to use the place is to sit in the warm basins and then drop into the cold water below - which is what most Thai visitors come for. The surrounding forest is dense and the site is compact, a short walk from the car park.
It sits close to the Emerald Pool and the two are almost always visited on the same trip from Krabi or Ao Nang.
