Lan Sang National Park, Tak
Lan Sang is a small national park in the granite hills west of Tak town, on the road that climbs towards Mae Sot and the Burmese border. Its name refers to the waterfall at its centre, which falls in a series of drops down a steep rock course.
A stepped path follows the stream up past the main fall to several smaller tiers, through mixed deciduous and evergreen forest, and longer trails climb the ridges behind to viewpoints over the Ping valley. The forest holds gibbons, macaques, deer and a good range of birds, and the park is compact enough to see properly in a day.
Because it is directly on the Tak-Mae Sot highway it is one of the easiest national parks in the country to stop at in passing.
