Pub Street and the Old Market, Siem Reap
Pub Street is the short pedestrianised strip at the heart of Siem Reap town, closed to traffic in the evenings and lined end to end with bars, restaurants and lit signage. It is where almost everyone visiting Angkor ends up after the temples close, and it makes no pretence of being anything else.
Immediately beside it stands Psar Chas, the Old Market, which is considerably older and still functions as a working market - produce, fish, spices and prepared food in the middle, souvenirs and textiles around the edges. The alleys running off Pub Street, particularly The Lane and the Alley, carry quieter bars and restaurants a few metres from the noise.
The whole district is walkable and sits on the river a couple of kilometres south of the Angkor ticket office.
