Travel to Koh Kradan from Satun

Ferry from Koh Kradan to Satun
Travelling from Koh Kradan to Satun links the small, palm-fringed island of Koh Kradan in Trang province with Satun's mainland ferry gateway at Pak Bara Pier. This route runs only from January to April and October to December, matching the Andaman monsoon pattern in southern Thailand. Outside these months, seas around Koh Kradan are too rough for the piers to operate safely, so the booking engine for this route will show no departures. If you are travelling outside January to April and October to December, plan your journey via the Trang mainland (Pak Meng or Kuantan Pier) instead, or check the reverse Satun to Koh Kradan ferry schedule for the current season's dates before booking anything else.
Transport options and operators
Bundhaya Speed Boat and Satun Pakbara Speed Boat Club operates this connection using a speed boat, with onboard onboard facilities to keep the crossing comfortable. There is no direct road or rail link between the two points, so the boat is the only practical way to travel between Koh Kradan and the Satun mainland. Departures run 3, giving travellers some flexibility to plan around other legs of a Trang–Satun itinerary.
Journey time and schedule
The crossing takes the scheduled journey time, though actual timing can shift slightly with sea conditions, so it's worth arriving at the pier with a little buffer before your scheduled departure. Exact departure times are shown at checkout and can vary by day, so always confirm the current schedule when you book rather than relying on a previous visit's timetable.
Ticket prices
Fares on this route start from ฿900 per person. Prices can vary by season, boat operator, and how far in advance you book, so the figure shown at checkout reflects the live fare for your selected date.
Departure and arrival points
Boats depart from the main pier on Koh Kradan, a short walk or resort transfer from most accommodation on the island, and arrive at Pak Bara Pier in La-Ngu district, Satun — the principal ferry terminal for this part of the Andaman coast. Pak Bara is also the jumping-off point for onward ferries to Tarutao National Park, Koh Lipe, and Koh Bulon Leh, so it's a convenient stop if you're continuing further south. Staff and signage at both piers are geared toward ferry passengers, and porters are usually available at Pak Bara for onward transfers.
Nearby islands and other routes
Koh Kradan sits among a cluster of Trang islands worth combining with this trip, including Koh Ngai, Koh Muk, and Koh Libong, all reachable by separate inter-island boats. If Satun itself is your main destination, Pak Bara also connects onward to Koh Lipe and Koh Tarutao, making it easy to continue island-hopping south toward the Malaysian border rather than backtracking to the mainland.

Frequently asked questions
What's the boarding process on the day of my trip?
At the pier named on your ticket, look for the staff of the ferry operator listed on your ticket as well. Please present your e-ticket (QR code) from your phone or other device—they’ll provide you with a sticker and/or boarding pass and direct you to your boat. Most piers have staff available to help load your luggage. In Koh Samui, staff are usually stationed at booths near the boarding area; at other locations, they’re typically near the boats, wearing their company uniforms.
Do I need to print my ferry ticket or is mobile ok?
You don't need to print your ticket. On the day of travel, simply present your e-ticket (QR code) from your phone or other device to the ferry operator staff at the pier named on your ticket—they'll give you a sticker and/or boarding pass and direct you to your boat.
If you'd prefer a printed copy, you can register as a member on our site, which allows you to easily print out your e-tickets and VAT receipts.
What happens if my ferry is cancelled due to weather?
If your trip is cancelled due to bad weather, you can choose between receiving a refund or rescheduling your journey.
Please note that refunds for bad weather are only issued if the ferry operator cancels the trip. Also keep in mind that speedboats are more likely to be cancelled than ferries, as ferries can usually operate in the rain except in extremely bad weather — though journeys may take a little longer during storms or strong winds.
To arrange your refund or new travel date, please click the refund button in your personal Liva account.
What are the baggage allowances?
Your ferry e-ticket includes ferry transport, baggage fees, and handling. The free baggage allowance per person is 20–25 kg, depending on the operator. If your baggage exceeds this limit, you can pay the extra fee directly to the ferry operator in cash.
To check the baggage allowance for your specific trip, please refer to the trip details for your selected route.
Can I change the date of my ticket?
Yes, you can change your trip date as long as you provide notice at least 24, 48, or 72 hours before departure—the exact timeframe depends on the ferry operator you booked with. A small service fee of 200 baht per person applies for a second change.
Please note:
Changes must be for the same operator and boat type as your original booking.
