Tonsai Bay, Railay
Ao Ton Sai lies immediately north of Railay West, separated from it by a headland that can be walked around at low tide and not at high. It is the climbing bay: cheaper, scruffier and more committed than Railay, with bungalows back among the trees rather than on the sand.
The walls above it hold some of the hardest sport routes in Thailand, and the bay's culture is built around them - gear shops, climbing schools and bars where the day is talked through afterwards. The beach itself is rocky and shallow and is not the reason anyone stays.
Longtails run from Ao Nang. Electricity in the bay has historically been limited to certain hours at some places, so check if that matters to you.

Attraction Points
- Railay East, Krabi — The mangrove-fringed eastern side of the peninsula, where the climbing shops, cheaper rooms and bars are.
- Railay West Beach, Krabi — The wide white beach on the peninsula's western side, closed at both ends by limestone walls.
- Diamond Cave (Tham Phra Nang Nai), Railay — A lit walkway through a limestone cavern at the northern end of Railay East.
- Phra Nang Cave Beach, Railay — The finest beach on the peninsula, under a huge overhanging cliff, with the princess shrine at its far end.
- Railay Viewpoint and Lagoon (Sa Phra Nang) — A short, very steep scramble above Phra Nang to a viewpoint over both sides of the peninsula, and a hidden lagoon below it.
