Ao Salad Fishing Village, Koh Kood
A stilt fishing village on the island's north-east coast, largely unchanged and still working.
Ao Salad Fishing Village, Koh Kood
Ao Salad is a fishing village on Koh Kood's north-east coast, built on stilts over the water along wooden walkways, with squid boats moored alongside.
Unlike Bang Bao on Koh Chang it has not turned itself over to visitors: it is a working community first, with a few seafood restaurants where the catch comes off the boats in front of you.
It is on the far side of the island from the main beaches, on roads that are quiet and in parts rough. That distance is why it has stayed as it is.
