Mango Bay (Ao Mamuang), Koh Tao
Mango Bay - Ao Mamuang - is the northernmost bay on Koh Tao, enclosed by forested slopes that drop straight to the water. There is very little beach; the bay is about what is under the surface rather than what is on it.
The coral sits in shallow, sheltered water close to shore, which makes it one of the standard stops on the island's snorkelling circuit and a common site for first open-water dives. Most people arrive on a boat trip rather than overland.
The road in from the south exists but is steep and rough, and the bay can be busy in the middle of the day when the circuit boats converge.
