Sunrise Beach (Hat Chao Ley), Koh Lipe
Sunrise Beach - Hat Chao Ley - runs along Koh Lipe's north-east shore and is the longest of the island's three main beaches. It faces the channel that separates Lipe from the forested bulk of Koh Adang, which fills the view a kilometre offshore.
The sand is white and the water shallow and clear, with reef at the northern end within swimming distance. It is quieter than Pattaya Beach, and longtails run from here across to Adang and the smaller islands. As the name says, it takes the sunrise.
The whole island sits inside Tarutao National Marine Park, so a park fee is collected on arrival. Lipe closes to most ferry traffic during the south-west monsoon, roughly mid-May to mid-October, and services are seasonal rather than year-round.
- Sunset Beach, Koh Lipe — The smallest and quietest of Koh Lipe's three beaches, on the north-west shore.
- Koh Adang Viewpoint (Chado Cliff) — A steep climb above the beach on Koh Adang, opening the classic view down over Koh Lipe.
- Pattaya Beach, Koh Lipe — The island's main south-facing beach, where the ferries arrive and most of the resorts sit.
- Walking Street, Koh Lipe — The pedestrian lane crossing the island between Pattaya and Sunrise beaches - Lipe's high street.
